The mandolin family of instruments includes all those wonderful strings tuned in fifths (well usually) and arranged in pairs (again, well-most of the time).
It's a broad category with terminoIogy that varies depending on what builder you talk to or what country your in.
I have personally played Irish bouzouki in both 4 and 8 string configurations as my main instruments for about 15 years now. Previous to that I played mandolin and tenor guitar. When considering my options for a travel instrument, it became quickly apparent there was little to nothing on the market. It is my personal interest in these instruments that compels me to offer them as part of my line of travel instruments.
