"I just tried a Lace pickup (in the Travel Weissenborn) which happened to slip into the hole nicely. It's wired stereo with a Pickup-The-World pickup. I tried it through a Raven Labs stereo preamp.The Lace is pumping out bass big time. It really sounds Lindley-ish with the sunrise. The longer scale and a nickel wound low string certainly must help.

I compared the plugged in sound next to my Weissenborn with a Lawrence and a Duncan mag mic. Although my Weissenborn sounds more natural and acoustic, they don't put out the bass and big sound that your Travel Weissenborn does."

"Well, I got the instrument yesterday and had a chance to open it, tune it up and play around with it last night, and I have to tell you....fantastic!

Seriously, you have done an amazing job on this instrument. Not only are the look, feel and workmanship absolutely outstanding, but the tone and projection of the instrument are top-notch. While some of that had to do with the woods

we chose, it's also due to the care with which you crafted it. The fine lacquered finish you applied is first-rate, when I told you I thought the instrument would attract a lot of attention when I perform at events I think I may have made an understatement.

To make my point more clearly, a friend of mine has a Peterson Level-1 octave that he has used for years, an instrument noted for its quality, durability and loud, rich sound. He is often the sole accompaniment for a stage ensemble that does musical theater, and his axe rings through loud and clear every time. It's also a fantastic recording instrument. It's the best of its type any of us uses currently on the faire circuit-until now!

The instrument you built is at LEAST the equal of his in terms of sound and action, and frankly has a finer look with the lovely woods, binding and finish. Kudos!"
